On the Dictionary of Old English website:
- Choose a headword from the DOE with which to work
- Read through the entire entry recording the following:
- How many times does the word occur in the Old English corpus?
- What is its grammatical information?
- How is it defined?
- In which texts does the word appears?
- Does it appear in certain types of texts more than others?
- Is the word used in modern English? If so, how? Use the OED.
- What other words are etymologically or semantically associated with it? Create a word family of at least 10 items.
- Can you come up with a mnemonic for remembering the definition?
- Are there any words with which it could be easily confused?
- Find an image of an Anglo-Saxon manuscript, structure, artifact, etc. associated with your word.
On the course Omeka page:
- Under the "Items" tab, click "Add an Item"
- Type your headword into the title box
- Click "Item Type Metadata" and select "Old English Word Journal Entry" from the drop down menu
- Use the information you gathered from the Dictionary of Old English to fill out the information requested about your word
